Gujrat New CM Bhupendra Patel

Bhupendra Patel has been chosen as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat at the BJP’s legislature party in the state’s capital Gandhinagar. He will lead the party in the upcoming assembly election.

Bhupendra Patel was chosen following the surprising resignation of CM Vijay Rupani, who is the latest BJP’s Chief Minister, to quit the chair.

Patel, 59, is the first time MLA and was elected to Gujarat’s assembly in 2017. He belongs to the influential Patidar community and is an engineer by profession. Bhupendra Patel is associated with the RSS for a long.

The new CM Bhupendra Patel had defeated Congress’ Shashikant Patel in the Ghatlodiya constituency by over a margin of one lakh votes.

He is also the trustee of Patidar organizations Sardar Dham and Vishwa Umiya Foundation and had served as the chairman of the standing committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).
