BJP has fielded Priyanka Tibrewal against the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, from Bhabanipur. The by-election will be held on September 30.
The by-election is crucial for Mamata Banerjee to retain the Chief Ministership as she has to be elected within six months to the assembly.
Mamata Banerjee was defeated by Suvendu Adhikari, in Nandigram, in the assembly elections held earlier this year.
Priyanka Tiberwal was a legal aid to BJP MP Babul Supriyo and served as the vice president of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in West Bengal. She had contested the assembly elections held in March -April from Entally.
BJP has enlisted twenty-star campaigners for West Bengal’s by-polls like Manoj Tiwari, Babul Supriyo, Hardeep Puri, Swapan Das Gupta, John Barla, Locket Chatterjee and others.
The counting of votes will take place on October 3.
