Speculations of Opposition forming a common front against BJP for the 2024 elections

This Friday can be considered as a significant day for Indian politics as 15 big opposition parties meet in Patna to form a common front against the BJP government. No big statements have been given to the media so far about the discussions in the meeting , however this meeting is being seen as a key step in the direction of giving BJP a stiff competition in the coming Lok Sabha elections. This meeting was the first such meeting planned by the opposition with many more scheduled in the days to come.

The next one is to be conducted under the aegis of Congress in Shimla around mid – July. As per the sources the number of opposition parties joining these meetings is expected to rise from 15 in the coming days. The meeting started with an initial address from the Bihar CM and the Janata Dal (United) leader Nitish Kumar . Lalu Prasad the leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal also joined the meeting among some other significant leaders. The meeting also saw some heated arguments between the Aam Aadmi party and the Congress party leaders. These two parties however made reconciliations to contribute in  the formation of a common block against BJP. As per the sources Mr. Gandhi said “I have come here without any past memory. Congress party will not hold on to its past  likes and dislikes” during his speech. Some fun elements were also witnessed in the meeting as RJD leader Lalu Prasad advised Mr. Rahul Gandhi . He said to him ” Baat maaniye , Shadi kr lijiye” (consider the advice and get married). However, discussions on the design of the seat sharing formula amongst the parties did not take place in this meeting . It is expected that discussions on this shall be taken up in the upcoming meetings of the opposition parties.
